50hp 4 stroke EFI: Dangerous engine acceleration.

Low time 2005 - No matter how slowly and carefully you advance the throttle the engine jumps to 2500 - 3000 rpm from idle. I asked the factory rep about the situation and was told to see my dealer. This can't possibly be the only engine that has had this problem.
Any ideas?

Probably need to plug it in and read the codes, there are several possible causes.

Most factory reps don't like dealing directly with the public.
Like he said see your dealer. If any dealers have had multiple run ins with that problem, their reports will be in the system for your dealer to access.
