I have a 50hp fourstroke BF 2000 year model. It wouldnt idle and bobbled at slow speeds so i removed, cleaned, re-installed, and synced all four carbs. Idles perfect! great throttle response, no coughing or bobbles on slow throttle up but now it wont go over 2800-3000rpm. Motor stills seems to be operating normaly. It just acts like im towing a barge. Did i screw up my jets?

Sounds like a stator going out on the high side...Merc's love to eat stators..you need to test before replacing as they get expensive and no returns...Download CDI testing procedure from their website

I'll do that so I know how it's done and to rule it out but i'm pretty sure it's fuel issue. It ran great wot before carb cleaning. Thank you for the CDI info.
