I found a replacement LU for my '94 Johnson 50hp...luckily for me I got the entire lower leg...ie...the LU, the mid section. the transom mounting bracket, and the power tilt and trim...

Although I only need the LU at this time I am going to keep the other parts in case I ever need them...

I would like to test the power t & t while it is hanging on my workbench even though there is no powerhead attached...

Because there is no powerhead I have no idea what the wires coming from the power t & t are supposed to go to...

There are 2 "sets" of wires coming thru the transom mounting bracket that come from the power t & t....

One "set" of 2 wires (both black; one with a blue indicator and one with a green indicator) are about 10 gauge going to a plastic 3/4 inch female plug.....

The second "set" of 3 wires are about 18 gauge....of these three 18 gauge wires, two of them (the black and green are crimped together in a 1/4 inch electrical connector leaving the white 18 gauge wire snipped off short...

Can someone tell me how to jury-rig these wires coming from the power t & t to a battery and some kind of switch to operate the t & t up and down...??

Re: 50hp Johnson tilt and trim

I'm just going off of what I recall from when I was working on rebuilding a '93 60hp, but the 2 wire goes to the engine cowling for the tnt button on the engine cowl (mine's on the right side of the engine, opposite side from the fuel line). I can't really help much as for how to rig it up. The white is most likely ground, while the other 2 are going to be up and down.
