Hi,
Well here is the problem... I recently replaced the trigger on our 76' 50hp mercury which i thought fixed the ignition problem that we have with this motor. the old trigger had really tired and bare wires . anyways all 4 cylinders ran when test in driveway. Got it up to the cottage and voila !! the problem with not all cylinders firing is back. It seems to be always cylinder one with another dropping out too. Here is the trend though. After i drive about 1/2-3/4 mile on full throttle, the other cylinders start to kick in intermittently and then continously. Then its fine until I try it later or the next day. I did the ohm test on the stator and it seems fine and i switched coils from #1 to #2 without a change on #1. #2 fires good.

I really don't want to go out and buy both components , but unfortunately i've had mechanics tell its the s-box and other the stator.

stumped in ontario...

thanks in advance guys

Paul
