50hp thunderbolt mercury outboard motor (speed)

Hi all friends.


Onec agian. One thing i notice last week when i was using marine battery, it was charging ao i am going to test wire and rectifier. Secondly notice 50hp doesn't have to speed which it whould be for 50hp. Can some one expert guide me.

You need a tachometer and tell us the rotation per minute (rpm) number on the tach with the throttle wide open....as fast as it will go. I assume you aren't going as fast as you think a 50 hp should push you. On getting 50 hp out of your engine, that only occurs when the rpm get in the center of the recommended max operating range.....like 5000 rpm on some engines.

I checked the battery it shows 12.50 volt when motor was off and after starting motor and putting on speed. Checking 15.25 and maintaining or increasing a little, noticed my 2 wire which was connected with rectifire was cut because of corrosion, cleaned, solded, and taped it and its good.
