HI
I posted about this Engine some time ago, a friend of mine has a tiller steer 50 "mix your own oil" and the main Bearing on the centre cylinder failed, the crank was rebuilt (by a Motor bike shop) all new bearings including big ends, cylinders where checked and found to be good and the Engine was rebuilt by a Yamaha dealer, all went well for about 2 months, the Motor started making ugly noises again, it was stripped down yesterday, and the same Bearing has gone again, as well as the centre big end, all cyclinders are very slightly scored/scuffed as well, when the rebuild was done, the Water Pump was done, carbies done, block cleaned, the whole lot (so they say) now my question is, could there be a problem (unfound) with the Motor before, was the rebuild a dud or is there a common problem with the Crank Bearings in these Motors? at the moment, there is a bit of tension between the Dealer and the Owner as to who will pay for the reapirs.
