50hp won't idle continiously

Motor starts fine, idles ok fo 10 secs, idle speeds up then for about 5secs before motor dies. the fuel filter is 3/4 fuel after priming drains to about 1/4 after starting and then fills back up to about 3/4 before stalling.

Primer bulb needs to be primed to get it running again.

Primer bulb ok, runs fine on other motor, dont think its is the pump as the filter fills back up before stalling.

What is causing the speeding up? if speeding up how come it is stalling, it does not slow down to stall, it speeds up and dies?

could a air leak cause this? hoses LOOK OK

in addition if I raise the fuel to the motor elevation it idles fine.

It could be due to a siphion effect then, i am going to change uot the fuel lines and by pass the filter and hook the fuel direct to the pump and see what happens.

Any imput is apprectiated

it speeds up because it is running lean as it runs out of fuel in the carb bowl. it sounds like a weak fuel pump. or closed vent on the fuel tank. arrow on the primer bulb pointing toward the engine?
