50ph mercury banging

my 50hp mercury bangs and judders alot when put in forward gear this goes on for about a minute then it settles down, it goes into and runs in reverse np, could this be just needing adjusting or is it the gear box on the way out ????

no it does not sound like gears ,just a heave thumping as if there was something in the prop ?

Have you checked for play in the pivot it steers on?

there is no play in the pivot part, i hope it is just needing to be adjusted at the gear linkage,
