When I got this motor running yesterday it had lots of pressure to the tank. When I pulled the carb to clean it I noticed the one check valve had come off of the spring so I reattached it and put it all back together. I ran it and it died and I discovered I had no more pressure to the tank. So I removed the carb and bent the spring back down so the valve sealed. Was this the right thing to do or should I just left it det
ached from the spring. I read a bulletin that backfires can ruin the spring. Thoughts?

As you can see in the pic the top valve is slightly open, this was taken before I bent it back, the spring has a noticeable bend at the top. It runs now without repriming but the pressure isn't the same.

I would check one out from a parts motor (if you had one) and get some measurements. If you set it, where the tips are on the table, you can check and see how high the center portion is from the surface of the table. Or, you can set the center portion down flat on the table and measure how far the tips set up.

You could also try Sea-Way Marine too and see if they have the rubber piece, with the spring. This little piece should be reasonably priced.

No dice on a parts motor, seems to run ok....once I get back from vacation I will put it through it's paces, just found it odd.
