I am new to this site. I have found a lot of interesting things for sure.
My title says 1952 Star Craft Pleasure boat. 16' aluminum deep V-Hull. I got it from my dad when he died. I have searched till I was blue trying to find any literature or even pics of this boat. Well it's time to start my restoration. She is in great shape for the most part. My 1st ? is what do ppl think of the pour in foam as long as proper drainage is allowed. I pulled the decking and the white foam blocks were water loggeg and the ply wood junk. I also have read ppl putting in "noodles" or "logs". Any thoughts on that?

If applied correctly and allowing for drainage, I don't see anything wrong with the pour-in foams. Its not quite 2X more expensive than using the pink sheets of extruded polystyrene. I would consider it if I ever redo another boat.

Pour in foam with drainage is the best and also most expensive. While i used noodles on my 18ss I would go w the lowes extruded sheet foam. On the 16ss i bought and am using the factory equivalent white foam. It was cheaper its safe if properly cared for and im not keeping the boat fordecades

NO! do NOt put pool noodles beneath your deck. they absorb water over time, not a good attribute for your emergency flotation.

the extruded foam (pink or blue) absorbs zero water and will help support your deck. factory used pourin foam for some years (still?? anyone know??) and pitched that it helped support the deck and quieted the ride. those here who have had to re-do such boats curse the factory.

i'd consider pour in foam IF 1) i was 100% certain that it's closed cell foam and not likely to absorb water; 2) i first lined the bilge with saran wrap or sprayed it with Pam so the stuff would come loose if i ever needed it to. not a problem, you say, we'll just make it an ugly joke on the next guy who has the deck out, in 2040 or so. so what happens if you hit a floating log and need to do repairs? one answer to that is load in 3 tubes of sillycone, sell it pronto, and make it an even uglier joke on the next owner. but we of the Starmada are above that....right?

Great idea with the PAM or plastic wrap. I thought of if it would stick or not but did not think of that. Thanks.
This boat is not a joke for me for it means a lot to me so I want to do it right so I appretiate all the input.

I was thinking that I will use half round PCV to follow down the bilge so that when I pour the foam it won't block it. Also was thinking of incorperating the pipe around each rib to alow drainage through the ribs as well. Any thoughts on that?

With a little thought I don't think this will be hard to acheive lol but with any restoration well ya know...
