Hi All,
Needs a new water pump impeller(mod# 7514). Do I need to remove power head? Thanks in advance. John

Not having the book in front of me, and depending on memory............

Some of those older models had their shift rod located outside of the long exhaust housing between the exhaust housing and the steering swivel bracket with a connector of sorts about halfway up the housing. Easy to see.

If you see nothing moving in that area when shifting, then yes.... remove the powerhead.

2nd the powerhead removal. Disconnect throttle linkage vertical shaft from powerhead and fuel/air lines under cowl. Pull the 7 bolts from below powerhead, and it should come off rather easily.. may need a rubber mallet to break gasket seal. You'll see where the shift rod connects to the shift handle. Disconnect that, and pull lower unit for impeller service. Should replace the powerhead base gasket and drive shaft gasket/washer directly under powerhead. Good luck!
