Yeah, I did it again...working out of town for a few weeks, the job was done and I was driving home when, uh, yeah, I got side tracked and grabbed yet another 1955 Johnson 25hp. That makes three 55's, 2 Johnson and 1 Evinrude, plus a '53-'54 Johnson 25 for parts. This one looks like a complete tiller model. It pulls over and seems to go in & out of gear, but unfortunately the outer cowl is heavily oxidized and pitted. Any recommendations on refinishing and paint? Thanks!

....and the addiction only gets worse with time Im afraid ;)

I get my paint and decals from Peter at NYmarine here

Antique and Classic Outboard Motor Paint & Decals

I have gone to soda blasting rather than manually stripping the old paint. Then be sure to use a self etching primer or the paint will not last. They used to use zinc chromate, but of course that is not the healthiest of choices, so stick to the self etching primer.

Have any pics>?

Thanks for the reply, I just want to use the right paint stuff so that gas & oil don't wash it right off again...I do have pics, but for some reason, my computer won't download from the camera anymore...??? If & when I get it figured out I'll try to post 'em...
