5500 RPM, No Problems?

If I can get 5500 RPM WOT anytime I want, I assume I have no engine problems correct?
The reason I ask is my bottom plug is always a little cleaner than the other 3. If #4 cylinder is not firing strongly, I wouldn't be able to get the 5500 RPM (seems to me).

Time to start thinking about the summer days and nights on SML VA!

Not necessarily, if the boat is way under-propped for some reason. What boat and what prop do you have, and what is your speed at WOT?

Engines running too lean run really great until detonation melts the piston!

There usually will be a small variation in deposits on the plugs. BUT: If your bottom plug runs much cleaner than the top in that set of cylinders, if it were my engine, I would richen up the idle needle about 1/8 turn and see what happens.

Check with a flashlight in the cylinder and see if the piston is clean like the plug.Do a compression test there might be a head gasket leaking water into the cylinder.J
