DJ,

when you say propped right, what prop? I am running a 25' with a 90 horse, and with 3 people on board, I can get about 20mph, by GPS.

jollymon,

Speed (MPH) has little to do with the correct prop selection.

Prop selection is based upon RPM. The engine should be propped to be able to turn (moderately loaded) within it's top operating RPM.

As an example, a 90 HP John/Rude should be propped to be able to turn at least 5500 RPM at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

If it is not, the engine is lugging, which will greatly contribute to an early death.
