jollymon,<br /><br />Speed (MPH) has little to do with the correct prop selection.<br /><br />Prop selection is based upon RPM. The engine should be propped to be able to turn (moderately loaded) within it's top operating RPM.<br /><br />As an example, a 90 HP John/Rude should be propped to be able to turn at least 5500 RPM at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).<br /><br />If it is not, the engine is lugging, which will greatly contribute to an early death.
