What is the difference in a salt water 55 and a regular one? Is is a sprayed on corrosion protection? Stainless gears? My googling does not turn up much about a salt water 55hp Yammy.....

Anyone know?

Better corrosion resistance. Stainless hardware instead of non-stainless, etc...

A guy is selling one with electric start and controls. Asking $1850.

Does that sound reasonable?

Depends, what year is the motor? Is it running? Any problems with it?

Thanks for the rplys, Red.

Its a 1990 two banger.

Seller claims it runs sweet and offers to test run it. Its on a stand right now though. Pictures of it look clean but I have not seen it in person yet....

Any experience with this model?

I am trying to look the motor up on the nada bluebook site but that model year is not listed for 1990. Closest i've found is a 50ELD with an avg retail of $365.00.

I did some searching on the web for that motor and $1850 seams to be the going price for those.

I'm guessing a two cylinder will be pretty loud and buzzy. I've read they were good solid motors. I wonder if the "comercial" version was the same as the salt water version.....
