Rebuilding the carb on my '56 Evinrude 30hp BigTwin and on disassembly, there was no cork or rubber "biscuit" between the high speed jet and the float bowl. Every other old OMC I've worked on has one but I don't see one on the parts diagram for the BigTwin. Is it correct NOT to have the little cork biscuit on the BigTwin? I've uploaded a couple pics (one for the BigTwin and one for a Fastwin carb. The "Biscuit, or Doughnut gasket" I am asking about is #73 on the Fastwin diagram. Notice that there isn't one on the Bigtwin diagram. Any advice from an old OMC expert greatly appreciated. Thanks.

there was a recent post on this same question......the valid response was "no, the boss, biscut, donut gasket is not needed on the bigger hp motors". it is needed on the other 4 motors in you sig . ( photo bucket works well for posting pics)

Actually, it is not needed on the larger hp motors, with an adjustable high speed jet. The large hp motors with a fixed jet most definitely need them. Reason being, the adjustable high speed jet on the larger hp motors allows you to tune out any bypass.

That all being said. I put an o ring on every carb, no matter what. It certainly doesn't hurt.
