I acquired a 56 Evinrude Bigtwin 30 for a Lonestar Restoration project last month and I have done the following:

Checked the compression 110-110
Replaced the points and condenser
Rebuilt the carb
Replaced spark plug wires and fuel lines
Replaced impeller
Rebuilt wiring harness converted to 12 volt
Changed lower unit gear oil
Did I miss anything? Do I need to get a lower unit seal kit? Not sure when the last time this motor was started so i was wondering if there was anything I need to do before starting? Thanks Jennie

How did the coils look? They must be in newer condition, since you were able to change the spark plug wires, without them crumbling.

It sounds like you're doing well, in getting it dialed in. I think you're ready to rock and roll.

Does it have the dual line fuel system?
If not, and it has a fuel pump, then you might want to replace the diaphragm in the fuel pump.

Good luck, Peter
