had a little time today as i waited for the buyer of another motor. wanted to see if i could get a fuel pump going on the old 5.5. i went with the briggs / stratton pump and i took apart the intake, removed the check valves for the pulse.
it worked pretty good, didnt take long at all.
so thanks to the members here, i have succesfully installed a modern fuel system on a old two liner.

Hey, nice job. It looks like your list of motors, is like mine, except I only have about half of my motors listed. :D:D
Your old 5.5 looks as good as the one I have.

nice clean install dk!! and just a reminder......make sure to keep the water pump submerged in that barrel, in the vid, its pumping, but really should be completely under water.

thanks yes the water kept running out. the can is a little small. thought the 20 gallon tub was better than a 32 gallon. next up is the johnson 10 seahorse.

Yea, my collecting is done for a while. I'm full up. Now I'm tinkering with an old bike. :D :D
I picked up all of my old motors on Craigslist as non runners, pretty much. The old 5.5 that I recently got, had a blown head gasket and was missing the cowl. I got it running good and got a cowl on it and it's ready to rock. I also have two of the older green ones and an old Evinrude 5.5. They're nice running little motors. You'll enjoy running it.

yes it runs pretty nice. i think the timing may be a little off as at full throttle in the bucket, it seems that it should have more revs? ran it for a little while like for a second.

ps, is it better to run 16-1 or is 24-1 ok?
