56 johnson seahorse 7.5 ad-10 m impeller issue

hi im haveing an issue with impellers i have replace two impellers with gaskets and such and being this motor has no tale tell am unsure as to why it keeps overheating and tearing up impellers the first itme was my fault running in trash can and water level got to low but as soon as got hot turned off let motor cool and pulled powerhead and replaced impeller once replaced started up and got water out of exhaust and all was well ........went back out today to warm up engine to do decarb and made sure had plenty of water and went to barn for 5 min and come back and no water in exhaust and starting to get hot so turn off and let cool again and now have to change impeller again im sure .but any sugg to what could be going on .impeller parts blocking passage and such ? or maybe somthing im totaly overlooking

just an update just pulled l/u and impellar is in great shape but motor still got really hot hotter than normal

Is the water tube seating snugly in the grommet in the water pump housing? Also, if you still have the L/U off, try running some water up the water tube (with a garden hose) to flush system out. See if water is getting through the system passages.

also make sure your impeller housing is sealing properly !!!!i ran into this last year with a 33 hp evinrude which gave me fits until i used a sealer on the housing and then i had no problems since.i took that blasted lower unit off all day and tried everything thinking i had a blockage etc etc ,finally decided to try a avaition grade sealer on the mating surfaces of the lowerunit and housing and presto ,problem solved.maybe the houssing was warped even though it didnt look like it or maybe a nick,whatever it was its working fine now,pumps like a champ.

must have been a blockage while i had l/u off i blew out powerhead and got a few small particles from where i burnt up the first impeller and now works like a champ i did have to give it a few rpms to get it going at first .also on a side note is there a way to add a tale tale not having one is gonna drive me crazy until i get a little more sure of the motor
