1957 evinrude/Johnson 35hp I've been having issues with ( lean sneezes) lately turned out I dropped a cylinder. Ordered coils and wires since it was getting fuel and running 120 psi compression on both cylinders. It was the lower cylinder I pulled the flywheel off and it was getting rubbed by the coils on the magnet, I put the new coils on lined them up to the bosses and put the flywheel on and it bound up on the coils so I took the flywheel off and re checked my alignment it was off a little so used a pair of brake pliars to push it all the way back while I tightened the screws down. It lined up with the flat spot on the bosses but still bound up a little just on the putter corners of the coils I could tell because I spun it over a few times and it left some wear lines on the new coils these are sierra brand coils I have and extra fly wheel from when I switched it to electric start. I've thought about cutting a window out of it so I can put a piece of paper or two between the coils and magnet and then tighten it down, but I could also solve the issue with a little sanding on the coils and maybe a little on the flywheel has anyone sanded them down a few hairs before and had it work well still??
