Not your typical issue, at least based on the threads I've read.

Little back ground. I aquired the engine last year from an extended family member. Appearantly its been in the family for a long, long time and sat for the last 5-10 years in a shed. I pretty much put gas in it and it ran a couple times, seemed off so I aquired a carb rebuild kit, new coils, wires, condensers, plugs, and water pump kit for a winter project.

Im finally getting around to replacing the parts. However I cant pull the engine over. It wont move more than an 1" or 2". I can move it back and forth. Seems like something is stopping it from turning. Looking for help here.

I thought maybe it was the lower unit froozen, I removed it, had to replce the water impeller anyway. No difference, still wont crank over.

Any ideas?

Either a piston is stuck at top dead center, or it has thrown a rod. Remove the intake bypass ports from the side of the cylinders and look in to see what is/is not moving.

Thanks for the info, although I think I figured out what the problem is, now I ahve to figure out how to fix it.

I started another thread on this some time ago. Rather than add to this thread and duplicate my efforts. I'll update the other thread and let this one die, unless someone can delete it.

Link to the other thread.
