Went out this morning with the intentions of buying a boat but came home with this little Jewell instead. Got a tank and an extra female gas line connector. I haven't had time to give it a spit and polish but the inside is as clean as a pin.

OOOOHHHH that thing looks good. The carb face plate decals look great among all the other parts. What a good looking, well-cared for motor. That's my favorite johnson motor!

I haven't run it yet. The older gentleman I bought it from said he couldn't pull it due to a heart condition. He said It came from an estate and hadn't been run in 30 years hence it's "low mileage" condition. He also told me he had changed coils, points and condensers and resealed the gearcase. The propeller looks like new. I'm still looking for a boat

changed coild/pts./condens. AND new gearcase seals???? Gees, he did all the pita work for you!! I don't mind cleaning carbs or replacing hoses, and pts/coils are bad, but I despise changing l.u. seals! what a pain. I also hate to know just how bad the gears/clutch dog/driveshaft are.....sometimes I like to just imagine how perfect they must be if they work without having to actually know!

Put the gas to it, started on third pull. Idled down nice. Shifts smooth. If the river ever goes down I'll take er out and give a good runnin.

Nice! I just finally ran and used my 56 15hp i bought ,yesterday we used it to fish. It runs nice now that I took it out and hammered on it.

Tell me, the year is almost half over and I've only been able to run lines twice this year. The rain will just not end. At least I get time to work on my motors.
