I'm curious if anyone knows the proper proceedure for removing the cone from the propeller on these units that does not include "get a big hammer ..........."

It should be threaded if I'm not mistaken.

It seems kind of wobbly, sort of like the ones on the OMCs of that era, not like a threaded one. However ...... if it is threaded, right hand, or left hand thread?

The one I had was a RH with a cotter pin

The cone is held on with a tab washer. One or more of the tabs should be bent into the notches in the cone nut. Once those are bent free, the nut should simply spin off (counterclockwise).
