talking to a guy in Texas who is selling me a steering handle for this motor. He saw my ad on aomci.org. He told me to make sure the oiler tube was clean on this motor. Said it was a brass fitting that carried oil up to the main bearings? Saw two little brass nipples on the right side of powerhead that had a dried rotted vacuum line? Am I missing something? Thx

I have seen them brass/copper & rubber fuel line, I don't think it matters which, what does mater is it is in place and in good working condition. what oil is not burnt through the combustion process settles in the lower crank case it is routed thru this hose to the upper main crank shaft bearing to provide lubrication to the bearing. make sure the hose is good and routed well clamped on both nipples adequately.

They are, just run fuel line from one to the other and you are done.

Glad you found a handle more local. Wished I could have helped but even giving it to you for free, good old Canada Post gets their share making it too expensive.

Be sure to post pics when you are all done!

I over looked that tube , I never knew it was for oil . Its made of brass or copper . Its a small tube at the front of the engine . Thats the way its on my 1957 fleetwin 7.5 . I should of cleaned it out But I bet its clean from past use . Now I know it for getting oil to the top of the crank , at least it looks that way to me from the parts view on marine engine.com.

One other thing I noticed about the oil line is that it is often painted the same as the power head, which makes it even a bit more easy to overlook .

Yes, the correct size weedeater line will work good. What's nice about the weedeater line, is you ca see the fuel mix moving through it. That was pput there, because the upper main bearing is notorious foe lacking oil.
