Hi all, I have a chance to add a 1958 Evinrude fat 50 to my collection and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this motor. I currently have a 55 25HP, a 56 30HP and 2-57 35 HP bigtwins in my collection and was thinking of adding the fat 50 if the compression is good and it is complete. I found it in a barn where the owner says it has say for at least 20 years. It looks like its in good shape from the pics and the price is good. Thanks Jenny

You are getting out of control! lol I warned you. ;)

They are big, heavy buggers. A little more to worry about than your Big Twins, but could be a nice addition if you have a boat for it

If it was myself I'd add it to my collection if the price is right. Easy mtr to work on.

I know High Trim, just cant stand to see these old gems wasting away in someones barn. I have space and eventually Ill have time to get them running and looking like new.

I always liked the way they looked, better than the way they ran. Mine would start up on two cylinders, and then the other two would kick in, then the fish would float to the surface, and off we would go....

I think they were only about 200#, but they were so fat.....they looked heavier than that.
