guys new to boat motors so getting crash course.i'm trying to get to impeller to change.the motor been sitting in a barn for a long time.i've taken out the 6 lower bolts and the one on top it has dropped on inch. not sure if i'm missing something or need to work it down w/force.now i left the prop on i think thats ok. also i change the lower oil ran it couple minutes when i drained the lower unit the oil was a light tan color is that right. thanks for the help if anyone can help. purchased the eng and repair manuel so general no step by step.so far i replaced the coils points condensor and rebuilt the carb/fuel pump. thanks

1 inch x 2 inch plate on side of leg, remove plate. this is the shift rod connection. remove lower bolt. lower should drop out. when replacing, notice notch in lower shift rod, the bolt has to go thur the notch when connecting. TOP SECRET FILE has a lot of good stuff for you.
