With the help of some fine fowlks here I managed to get my 59 50 hp Evinrude running like a top so I took it out for a test spin for the first time today. Runs great and seems to have a lot or torque. The only issue I had was at about 25 miles per hour is seemed to slip in to neutral. No thunks or bangs just slipped out and tried to over rev. In the past with my newer motors I would have sworn I spun a prop thats how it acted. I could throttle down and it would slip back in and take off again. It was dark when I go home so I didnt fool with it but tomorrow I'm going to check my linkages and see what they look like Im hoping its something simple but afraid it's clutch dog or worn gears. Any Ideas anyone might have would be appreciated...Thanks

First thing to do is to check all the shift linkage for something being loose or worn. With a clutch dog being bad you normally get a clunk.

No clunk; I would go right to the prop hub and put a line across it and do a test run.
