59 Evinrude fastwin- back story I received this motor as a gift basically. The recoil starter was locked up, after fixing it and pulling the flywheel and replacing ignition(coils, points, condensors) and going through the carb completely twice, new plugs, and a decarb I have a terrible sneeze at idle that will kill the motor. Link and sync seems fine, timing checked multiple times I just can't seem to point it out. I did notice today that the fuel pump has a fine mist coming out of what appears to be a weep hole. Fuel pump was on a motor that ran before(omc part #385784) and worked perfect. I'm just wondering if this will fix my sneeze, or if I need to dig deeper and order more parts when i order the rebuild kit for the fuel pump. Motor runs great from just above the start position to full throttle. I also noticed the top plug was black and dry while the bottom still looked like new and was slightly wet. I have a very nice blue snap of spark on my open air tester as well. Motor also is hard to start, almost has to be choked to start when it sits for more than 5 minutes. This all started after its first voyage, where it ran perfectly fine until I went to load the boat back on the trailer and I had a choke decent break(that's also been replaced) one other thing, i pulled the lower unit off last week to double check the impeller, and I had a very light blue oily substance in the transom clamp section. Almost like 2 stroke oil/water mix. Thanks in advance

It won't let me upload my pics, but I believe the reeds are fine. None are bent out of shape, and no discoloration, broken, cracks, anything. But I pulled the plugs and it seems to me that the lower cylinder is getting water in it. I ran the motor earlier today and I can see an oil/water mix on them

Suspicions are true. Pulled head and water in lower cylinder. Cleaned out, no damage to the wall or ring. How do I ID the culprit?

3 main water entry points in order of probability (my experience):
1. Leaking head gasket
2. Hole in exhaust cover baffle plate on side of powerhead (or leaking gaskets)
3. Lower crankshaft carbon seal.

The head gasket didn't look bad, but later this evening I am pulling the power head to inspect. I think it's the power head gasket or the baffle. I did notice there was some 2 stroke oil running down the "leg" of the motor the other day and was suspicious about that as well.

I have a good list of parts, that include the head gasket, thermostat kit, power head gasket, baffle, and the intake gaskets. Thanks to all that have responded

1 bolt still holding me back on the power head. Front bolt, someone swapped it to a Philips I believe at some point. Hoping to get a drill from a buddy to help me remove it.

Power head is off, gaskets look very old and original and came right off. Baffle looks nice. There was blue sludge looking stuff in the leg like I originally said and some on the carbon seal. I have pics but it won't let me upload them

A little update, everything back together. New head gasket, lower carbon seal, power head gaskets, and intake gaskets, rebuilt fuel pump, I still have a sneeze on the lower cylinder. Also a stripped bolt and the shifter will not work correctly
