I have a 10hp Jubilee that is in great shape , but I'm having a problem. The motor starts right up and runs great except that it has a chug in it when I get past half throttle. I have set the high and low speed the way J. Reeves says to do it . The motor purrs like a kitten at low speed. What could be causing the "chug"? Thanks, Roy

What do you mean by chug? Losing power? Coughing, sneezing through the carb? Need more details.

I guess you would call it a cough. Im not sure on the terms. It doesnt lose power or backfire thru the carb. It bucks the motor, but keeps going.

Changing my reply with the new information--Now you are describing a worn out clutch dog in the lower unit. Most people say it feels like they ran over something. Here in these parts they say it feels like they hit a gator.

I forgot to add that it doesnt do it constantly. It will cough and run good for about 50 or so yards then cough again and might run for 100 yards before it does it again..

Yep, clutch dog. Probably forward gear too.

Thanks folks. Now for my next question. How hard is the clutch dog to change?
