I find that I need a flywheel and possibly a stator/armature plate for my '59 18 horse. My parts catalog indicates #580226 for the flywheel, and #580283 for the stator plate.

Because I'll have to find used ones, I'm wondering if other years/motors will fit. Can anyone advise as to what year motors parts will interchange with mine?

Thanks

Hi, Rick.

Try tcoutboard.com for used parts.

Quite a few years' flywheels will work. But they get awful confusing as to part numbers. My 1974 common parts book says 580866 fits FD-10 (1956) through 1972- 20, 25hp models.

Stator plate? You would be surprised. That has what is called the "Universal Magneto". The same stator plate is used on a whole raft of different motors. The difference if any would be there may be a hole or two that hasn't been drilled or tapped, which you can do yourself, using the old one as a reference.

Thanks for the replies! For as many times as I've looked for parts, I never even considered tcouboard. The cold weather has me brain froze up! As for the stator, I found a NOS unit, same part# on ebay, for 10 bucks. Couldn't believe it.

Haven't done anything "boating" since October. Oh, the cold sweats, sleepless nites, fits of depression....
