Well this is my first boat, and obviously my first boat resto. Got it for $100, included trailer and 58' Evinrude Big Twin 35. So far we have removed the old decking, and set the boat in the water to check for hull leaks, none thankfully. Now im replacing the decking and carpeting. Need to finish putting the electrical back on motor and upgrade from vacuum to fuel pump and it should run. Also it only had one back to back seat, so need to build another and ill build a bench along the back in front of where Im sectioning off for the fuel tank. Eventually we will repaint it a dark blue/white with lots of flake to make it sparkle. Ill add a decent 4 spkr stereo and call it good. I will add more photos later.

Welcome to the Iboats and the dry dock EW!

A quick search in the Evinrude/Johson section should net you all you ever wanted to know about making the fuel switch.

Good info on building your seats here. Might even recognize the boat. :)

Did you check the stringers and transom before replacing the deck??? If so, how did you check them? I have a 61' Flamingo. Check the links below. Got any pics of the demo? I did not have to replace anything on my Barn Find She was solid as a rock. I'd be interested in knowing about the Stringer configuration etc...

All the fiberglass was in good shape, just some rotten wood. Nothing that some new plywood and a bit of copper green cant fix. the outer layer of the transom looks a bit aged but still good. Ive been considering what I can do to strengthen it up though, I guess take precautions before anything bad has a chance to happen.

I will say, after doing some research into the history of Lone Star, they made some beautiful boats. I love the big fin styling, I wish mine had the big fins.
