59 mark 15A....

Anyone know where on line I could find a parts diagram of the "auto tranny" in this motor.....I have a manual ordered, just getting impatient to see what's in there..........

There are 2 springs one for forward and 1 for reverse with a set of planetary gears for reverse both springs have been NLA since the 60s and it takes a NLA tool to replace the water pump. Don't mean to ran on your parade but good luck

From just about every old Merc Guru I have ever met, the LAST thing they want to work on is a "spring shift" motor like that....most parked when the impeller went bad, and the work invloved was just too much. Not a bad design, its just that you had to have the right tools and knowledge to dig in there...ya need the right tools, which said, are NLA...

Yup.........have heard that a couple of times....but I like a challenge.....I will have all winter to work on it.....could be an expert by the time springs rolls around.....

Jim, the shift is simple to repair if you can find a donor engine it's the w/pump thats the bear

Uh Oh...........I better wait for the manual......need to build a stand for it anyway......
