I have the above engine from 1954.

Bought it from someone who didn't finish his project and now I am turning it into mine.

Runs well. no other problems.

As far as I can tell the engine rotates the drive shaft in a clockwise direction. However the water pump is not working and looks like it will only work while counter-clockwise rotating.

What way does a normal Scott engine rotate? Can it be reversed? How? Can something be in backwards to cause this?

I am trying this before going to a shop just in case it is simple

Hi Chaunch
There is a site for scott-atwater. I'm sorry I don't know how to do the link thing yet, but if you snoop around a little you'll find it. It sounds to me like mybe the empeller is upside down?

Re: 5hp Scott Atwater Water Pump Problem

I have tried the impellor both ways and both do not work. My conclusion is that the drive shaft is opposite from what the pump needs to run.
I have found several sites about Scott Atwater but none go into techical detail.

Chris
