6 hp mercury used at higher elevations

I use my boat at higher elevation (8,000' to 10,000'). Should I make any adjustments? i.e, reduce gap on spark plugs, change prop, etc.?

It is hard to start and runs rough.

Carb jet needs to be changed. I don't have a manual that covers your motor to tell you what it needs.

You should find the required jet size on page 3A-2 (1995-1996) under Fuel Delivery System of the manual I sent you previously.

Should be a .038 for altitudes of 7500'-10,000'

According to the parts list, it should have an .042 at present
