60 DEGREE vapor seperator function?

Been thinking about this, and was wondering why the 60 degree eagle motors have a vapor separator, while the crossflows and 90 degree loopers dont? something to do with the carbs on the 60 degree motors feeding directly to the intake ports? just trying to understand why the engineers put one on in the first place!

Those motors also have a vapor pump, and the vapor separator has a sealed cover and an inlet needle, and gravity feeds the OMS pump.

I always thought that the vapor pump and the OMS pump team up to pull fuel from the tank. I never got a definitive answer on that though.

right kinda like a big carburetor. thanks! i understand it's function, just curious as to why they went with that setup. maybe to somehow add additional fuel faster for better throttle response? i mean the throttle response is lighting fast with these, but probably has more to do with the carb location

According to the invention, a fuel supply system for a marine engine comprises a vapor separator for receiving liquid fuel from a fuel tank and collecting vapors given off from the fuel, a high pressure pump having a fuel inlet for withdrawing liquid fuel from the vapor separator and a fuel outlet, and a fuel delivery line for delivering fuel under pressure from the fuel outlet to an engine injector system. The invention is characterized by a bypass line which extends between the fuel delivery line and the vapor separator for returning excess fuel to the vapor separator prior to its reaching the engine injector system. In this manner, fuel in excess of the demands of the engine injector system is returned directly to the vapor separator thus eliminating the need to recirculate unneeded fuel through the engine injector system.

I think it's where the oil gets mixed in the system(????)

right not just for EFI motors with injectors. So basically it acts as a fuel return system like in a 4 stroke going by the definition. so it separates the fuel vapor and fuel get returned/recirculated to the vapor tank so it can re-introduce fuel back into the vapor pump?

I do not believe the carbureted 60 degree motors have a ---" fuel return system "--- at all.-----And the wee vapor pump just pulls vapor off the separator tank and puts it into the intake manifold.----The factory manual has a nice diagram with all components , hoses.----Shows how and where fuel flows too.
