60 evinrude cutting out under load

My 60 hp '83 electric start evinrude has been cutting out as it goes into gear. There are noises that sound like arcing and I have seen some blue flashes around the bottom plug lead when running her with the cover off at night. I have also not had the power I should when she does run properly - could this short be my problem or need I look further?

Replacing the plug wires should be your first priority. It never going to run properly if the spark isn't reaching the plugs.<br /><br />If it still isn't up to snuff after replacing the plug wires, at least you've eliminated a known problem.<br /><br />Let us know how it works out.<br /><br />Gary

Also change all the plugs (QL77JC4)
