I have a 2006 60 HP EFI 4 stroke I bought new. The only thing I don't like is that when I do the first cold start of the day the engine will not idle and will die several times unless I run it up to 2500 rpm for about 5 minutes. After that it is fine for the day. I asked my dealer about this and he said it was "normal." To me that sounds like a load of hoowy. I wouldn't think a fuel injected motor should do that.

Any comments would be appreciated.

This is NOT normal. I'm on my second 60 efi and both start at the first turn of the key, regardless if it's the beginning of the season, been sitting for a month, or was running yesterday. I would suggest finding another mechanic.

It starts immediately. It just won't stay running until it warms up.
