60 hp ETEC warranty question

I am in the market for a 60 hp ETEC. The dealer I called with the best price says that he has to install it for warranty reasons. He says he has to put it on the boat to run it so he can do some required things for the warranty to be valid. He does not charge for installing it so that is not the problem. My question is if I decide to switch boats and install the motor on a new boat myself, will this be a warranty issue?

Re: 60 hp ETEC warranty question

short answer is no.the reason they do the orginal set up i believe is strictly for motor setting.these new motors are computer controlled and need to be initally dialed in for running in differnt areas etc.if im incorrrect id love to hear about it as im also planning on a 60 or 75 hp etec ,possibly very soon.let us know how you like it ,id be very interested to hear all about your experiences with it.
