Need help with R&R of water pump
I understand u remove the 4 bolts that hold the lower unit.
What I don't understand is what I need to do to shift rod.
Search has not helped me
Did find a Utube"how to' but was a different year and not very clear
So could some one point me to a "how to" or just tell me

Well , there are more than 4 bots to remove to get the lower unit off.---And if you remove the starter you will see the pin to be removed for the shift rod.

The two parts I ordered on were:

Sierra18-33380 Water pump kit
Sierra 18-3336 Pump housing

The kit included the impeller, how ever it uses metal pin vs the plastic wedge key on my old one. I verified the mod #.
Maybe someone replaced lower unit in past.

Where or how can I find
which part I need?

Tks for any help

Wherever you ordered your parts from should have thekit that has the correct key way set up. I just went thru the same thing on my 60 hp. Under the bottom carb from the left side of the motor you'll see the little coupler that the shift rod hooks to. The bolt faced the bottom & I put mine in reverse which turned it to face a little more forward & it was a lot easier to get out. After you get the bolt out, mine was 7/16, you have to slide or maybe gently pry the coupler to the left & the shift rod will pop right loose. Have fun. Jim

Ive the same motor, ive run into the same issue, try the pin, put grease on it to hold it on the shaft then slip the impeller down. Its working well on mine

Thanks all,
Sry I should have posted that I figured out the shift rod and have the lower unit off. I have a email in to the supplier for some help. Also, when I checked with a different supplier that had parts I noted on the IPB that it shows that model should use the metal pin vs wedge. I tried the grease-no luck. The new impeller has a small slot that the metal pin goes in. I' ll get my mic out and check with pin on shaft---however my eyes say no way. Course that could be an age thing. Will post back--tks
