I am at my wits end here so please advise,
1990 60 hp johnson
I was originally having running issues so striped and rebuilt carbs inc. welch plugs. They were all cleaned as best they could be. All fuel lines replaced from the tank to carbs
Ran ok for a week then bang more running issues, eventually turned out to be an intermittent power pack. have changed the pack for a new one and boy is the differencce in spark huge.!!
Now the darn motor will only run when choked. I am the lync and sync king and have done it so many times i can do it in my sleep. Compression is all within spec so that's that out of it.
carbs clean and brand new spark check with tester so I know that's good.
But will only start in water or muffs when choked, it will die within a few secs when choke is released. I thought fuel pump so disconnected from carbs the fuel lines and turned the key and fuel pulsed out of all 3 lines so the pump works.
I can't keep it running long enough to check timing , but going by J Reeves method the timing is set.
I know that if it's choked the carbs are by passed as such so it has to be the carbs doesn't it???
any help please!!!
