Hi I'm recently working on a 60 or 61 frankenstein johnson motor
i say frankenstein because i just cant nail a year down on it. the model number on the bracket has it as a 60 longshaft model RDSL-22 the hoop is from a later model and it has been converted to a short shaft with tiller steer.

My only problem with the motor is that it has the signature thunk of a bad clutch dog. In the past day or so i've found a guy who wants to sell a parts motor a 60 somthing evinrude 40hp lark. my question to you is how close in year does this motor have to be for its lower end to match up to mine?"

Re: '60 Johnson 40hp matchup

Ok well went anyway today and picked up the motor. A little different in that it has electric choke and its set up for remote control. It's a 60 with that ugly bread box hood a lark II to be exact model number 35521 and it has oh so many good spare parts. However I will have some extra that i won't be using like a wiring harness for instance and an intact undamaged hood so if anyone needs parts let me know
