hi i've just purchased a 60 4st yamaha tiller with a 11 3/8x 12alum prop with which i get a bit of ventilation on turns ,its been suggested that i try the new populse composite props with the adjustable blades ,has anybody had any experience with these , the the dealer suggested a yamaha stainless 11 3/4 x 12 but the price is nearly 3 times the alum ,i need a spare prop anyway but want to make sure if i get a different size it helps reduce the ventalation, after reading a bit on the forums about foils (fins)and their problems i dont want to go that way
thanks simon

Seems to me it would be best to investigate the cause of the ventilation first...

Re: 60 yamaha prop

the motors setup as per the builders specs and thecav plate is in line with the middle of the bung , a 3 degree wedge has been fitted which have helped getthe boat out of the hole better, but this has made it no longer possible to lower the motor because the 2 hooks on the top of the motor mount no longer fits over the transom i didnt want to do any cutting or grinding just yet ,so was hoping a prop with a bit of extra cupping might help

What you need are a set of 2" spacers to go on the trnsom and then your wedges. Just moving the engine back 2" may make the difference you need.
As for the adjustable prop, I would stay clear of that...I would, however, recommend you strongly consider a Turbo 3-Blade if going Stainless.

The small amount of cup in the aluminum prop may be why its venting. Not uncommon. A ss will be better, especially a Turbo.
