Hello, I have been scanning the site and found some very usefull info. I need some. I just bought a ?year Gale Soveriegn 60hp. Model # 60DE13BL Serial # 861145. The motor looks awesome. The whole thing is in awesome shape. Dont know if it runs, but it looks like its all there. Came with orig controls, also in great shape. I just wanted to know if there were any manuals out there, or parts for that matter. I would appreciate any tips before I go pullin the cord or wire it up. Thank you. -Mike

Re: 60hp Gale Soveriegn info?

It is a 1963, last year of Gale production, and a fine motor.

Manuals ar www.outboardbooks.com

Nearly all parts are available somewhere. Try an Evinrude dealer first..after you get that parts book from outboardbooks. Dealers can get the parts if you give them the part number. Except for the hood, almost everything on it was used on Evinrudes at one time or another.

Re: 60hp Gale Soveriegn info?

The motor is a GALE built by the Gale devision of OMC.(Evinrude/Johnson)
I think you will find manauls at that address above.
These are based on the E/J Fat 50 of the late 50s.Sometimes refered to as heavy but compared to some modern motors not that heavy.about 209 manual start 218 elec. start.Good low end power, cool sound but a little thirsty.
