Sorry to make another thread, it is a bit different than the other one..

So today i pulled the brand new NGK plugs i had in there to see if they will tell me what is going wrong with the motor (It starts on high idle, and key is pushed in (priming), but dies after i take prime off)..

Plugs 1 and 3 look fine, but plug 2 looks as if it was cold fouled by the looks of the picture in my service manual..

I am not sure what this means, but i am thinking the carbs need to be decarbed.... I think, but the can of decarbing stuff says to have the motor on while doing it... I cant keep it running that long to do it...

Please advise, i want to get this thing normal running enough to winterize it so i dont have to deal with it next season.

Thanks,
Dan

I think i found the problem....

#1.. I think i had my earmuffs hooked up to the exhaust exit.... are you supposed to hook them up to the holes in the front of the lower unit or the holes above the prop?

#2.. I pulled the fuel filter that is the last step before the fuel goes into the carbs. Guess what color it was? Yellow. If i am not mistaken it should be a blueish color if the oil was mixing, no?
If this is correct, and the color of the fuel in the fuel filter should be blue, that means this motor is not getting any oil!

Let me know if this is right please :)

G,day, What model motor do you have? The muffs should be over the holes in front of the prop not above the prop.

Are you mixing the gas and oil 50:1 or is the motor, oil injected? If it is oil injected the oil goes nowhere near the fuel filter. It is injected into the motor via the carberators. Chance's are your carbs are in need of cleaning which involves taking them apart cleaning and rebuilding them. To decarb you are removing the carbon buildup in the motor. Do you have any manuals on your motor?

the motor is oil injected....

I took out the plugs this morning and the threads have a bluish look to them, so the motor is getting oil.

I do have a manual, But i dont know if i am really advanced enough to rebuild my carbs... looks pretty complicated.
