iv had this boat for a year or so traded my perfectly good jon boat for a 1974 bass angler with a merc 500 on it. guy i got it from said it ran good but had a slight miss on it. he started it out of the water and ran great shifted good and ect. put it in the water after i traded it and wouldnt hardly idle dosnt take throttle or anything else. wouldnt get above 5 mph. didnt touch it for a year. tore into it today and started at the carbs.... took the carbs apart thinking they might be gummed up and found out that the main jets were cracked all the way up to the hole up by were the threads are on the jet. could this cause my problem? i took it to a boat mechanic and he told me it was losing fire but when i checked each plug for fire the boat has great fire. it shouldnt lose fire because its just a cap and rotor set up. not a brain box or anything.?.? am i on the right track? any help will be great thanks.
