I have one of those little "wrap around plug wire" tachometers. I had the 18hp out on my 16' aluminum boat with 2 adults, fuel, fish gear, battery etc. I would run about 3840 rpm. I was out again today, less 1 adult & gear say 220 lbs less. RPM maxed at near 4200.
Everything I've read states 18hp at 4000 rpm. Am I OK or do I need to cut the throttle back and stay under 4000 rpm? I would hate to see this motor "let go" it's way too nice a machine to lose.
