Total disassemble, cleaned, lubed, points looked new, cleaned and gapped .020

Am getting spark on all 4 but not 1/4 inch, more like an eighth.

Wondering if the magnets could be weak (?) or magnet gap to rotor (?)

Any really old guys out there got another idea?

Check coil for cracks, replace condenser, clean up rotor, check carbon electrode in cap. Check resistance on plug wires.

I would also suspect coil or condenser. With the dist cap off and an open air gap spark tester hooked up to the terminal on the coil, when you spin it over it should jump a 1/2 " open air gap. Done it many times.

D'oh! Never gave a thought to the condenser as I had spark, BUT.........

I did have a weak spark problem once on my BBC that turned out to be a weak condenser.

Will check all that you both pointed out.

May be a while before I respond, the boat and motor are both in 'resto' mode and won't see the water for a very long time.

Thanks and Take Care,
