I finally got her out for the first day-long cruise. 115 Evinrude ran fine after new impeller, carbs rebuild, new fuel lines and one coil replaced. Still has intermittent miss at idle, which i've been told is due to ethanol. With 5 adults she gets up & skims along real nice. That 115 is a gas hog, gulped about 5 gallons in 18 miles. Pic shows new bimini. I'm still looking for an upper windshield.

I have ran Evinrude 115s on several bigger Glass boats and the best thing is to keep your speed down to about 22-25 MPH when crusing or a bit slower. You can see more and the ride is smother, sometimes the extra gas used to go just a few miles faster is just expensive. Sounds like a nice day for you on the water.

I didn't want such a big motor, but i can't afford the 50 or 70 that would make more sense, so i'm stuck with it. At least it runs good, except for some temperamental moments. (caused by the damned ethanol)

If you are like most of us Macho Guys if the big Motor means faster than thats what we do-- go fast -use gas. Enjoy you only live once.

I certainly wouldn't want for a smaller motor. Someday when you're outrunnin' a storm you'll be glad to have it. Congrats on the successful run.

Congrats on your excursion. If the ethanol is giving you problems ( or anyone ) you need to buy some Staybil gas treatment and mix it in with the oil and gas. Ethanol will eventually destroy any older outboard and this stuff helps the engine, prevents your rubber hoses from detoriorating, and makes it run a lot better. Anyone that has boat motors should read the horrors that ethanol create. Advice: keep the larger motor, like the others said that extra HP is nice when you really need it. Send more Pics! Pics of the second time out, on the St Johns River. It handles 5 adults comfortably. Got to get rid of that ugly brown paint. Still looking for that upper windshield.....

Is that paint or red oxide primer? Nice boat though, will look great with new paint.

What brand/material bimini did you buy? I love that transparency of the white.

I got the Bimini from Iboats. It's sharkskin from Westland. Decent price.

Nice boat, Grats on the successful trips out! I consider anything at or above 3 mpg in a boat with a 2 stroke to be doing alright! I'm moving from a 90HP to a 140 HP this weekend!

I love those old curved window cuddy Starcrafts. I will have one someday. Boat looks great on the water!

I went with a White Westland Bimini too, but I went with Sunbrella. I am not sure how that compares with the sharkskin. Enjoy.

I love those old cabin cruisers myself. If I ever get rid of the Offshore cabin it is. So cool.
