'62 starflite shaft conversion

i was just given a 1962 Starflite IV. once i got it in my garage and started looking for info i realized it is a long shaft. the boat i will be putting it on for now and the boat i will be building for it are both 20" transoms. how difficult would it be to convert to a short shaft? is it even possible? i did a search but didn't find any threads. TIA<br />Jon

Welcome to iboats no_boundaries!<br /><br />The search function is temporarily out of service. At least I hope it's temporary.<br /><br />I'm not quite sure I understand. A Starflite IV was only available to fit a 15" or 20" transom. It wasn't until (much) later that 25" models became available. And I don't think any of the parts from those 25" V-4s fit yours.<br /><br />So if you have the extension you may be just fine here. Check the measurement from the crux of the transom bracket to the anti-ventilation plate and round down to the nearest 5" mark. (some of these older J/E engines measured a little long here)<br />

Welcome to iboats Jon, no conversion neccessary. The long shaft is designed for a 20" transom.<br /><br /> EDIT: Nothing like being beat by the best and better info
