'62 Starjet ??

Let me start by saying how impressed I've been with the restorations I've seen by you guys and I'm not in the same league. I bought this boat in the early '90's from a guy who was loading her up to take to the scrap yard. I talked him into selling it to me for $400. Since then I've gutted what was left and searched for parts from every salvage yard I could find. I use it duck hunting (with a a modified Avery blind) perch, walleye and bass fishing. I've taken it all over the midwest and have turned down offers that a sane person would have taken. The best I can tell she's a 1962 Starjet and because there was no paperwork or anyone locally to ask I was hoping for some help from the group. We're planning on attending the gathering in VA if the boss cuts me loose that weekend. Thanks in advance for any replies. - Big Hoss

Yoy have done a super job for a boat destend for the scrap yard.. Im sure you ave had good offers. Sometime theres no price for a home built project. Slow birds and tight lines .

I gotta admit, I usually really don't like the duck hunting conversions. But as was mentioned, yours has a cool military look and it totally badass :) Welcome!

Hi & welcome,

I'm not so sure it is a Jet Star, mostly because of the flat deck (meaning floor), and the design of the windshield and splashwell. Maybe someone more familiar with model ID's will be along. Looks great though.

Re: '62 Starjet ??

I think it is a later model than '62. First clue is the windshield design if it is original. The open triangle on the frame came later. Another clue would be how many transom braces it has. As far as I can tell in the late 60's they went from 3 braces to one. Mine is a 64 Jet and it has 3.

Lakelover's mention of the decking design is also a clue. The flat surface came later too but if yours was destined for the junk yard the decking may have already been removed.

And to be accurate there were 2 Jet models, the Jet had 2 bench seats (mine) and Jetstar had back to back folding seats.

Assume you have seen the brochure thread.

If this was hitched up to the green jeep in another recent thread it would look like a military rig. :)

Thanks for the input guys, I seriously appreciate any info. on this boat. I saw an old post for emblems but I'm pretty sure I missed the boat on getting in on that deal. Does anyone know where I can get some? I tried Google, Ebay and all salvage yards. If you have a pair or know where to get them, I'd be interested.

I just got a '64 Starcraft and I'm toying with the Idea of painting it green because I will be using it for the same thing you use your for ( hunting and fishing )

What kind of paint did you use and how is it holding up duck hunting ? Is it easy to touch up ? your boat looks great but I would probably paint mine flat green to match my truck.

Here is a picture of my truck and boat :

BigHoss I missed yur thread the first time around somehow(I think I was on vacation) but that is one sweet old Starcraft.

The black trim really looks bada&% with that militant paint scheme, I bet it does well as a hunting platform.

N1265, nice boat you've got there. Welcome to the site, feel free to start a resto thread and post up some more photos. We love seeing these old tin cans:D
